In this image released by NASA (news - web sites) on Thursday, Dec. 16, 2004, a sidelong glance at Saturn and its magnificent rings is shown as Cassini pierced Saturn's ring plane on Dec. 14, 2004. Saturn's tilt relative to the Sun throws dramatic shadows of the rings onto the planet's northern hemisphere. The image was taken with the Cassini spacecraft wide angle camera at a distance of approximately 654,000 kilometers (406,000 miles) from Saturn. (AP Photo/NASA/JPL/Space Science Institute)
