Bizarre Catapult Plant!
A combo of four pictures released by magazine Nature shows the explosive opening of the flower of the bunchberry dogwood (Cornus canadensis) occurring in just under 0.5 milliseconds - the fastest movement recorded in a plant so far, according to a Brief Communication in this week's Nature.(AFP/Nature/D.
