Who Is The Greatest American???

You can vote at the aol.com Greatest American site.
You can see the original 100 by clicking on the Meet The Nominees link above the pictures of the top 25.
I don't think I've ever seen a contest more inappropriately named. Some of the people being considered for the title of The Greatest American in the top 100 are Tom Cruise, Brett Favre, and Michael Jackson!!!!!!
Give me a Fuckin Break!
Along side these idiots are George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and Albert Einstein.
In the final 25 are Martin Luther King and Benjamin Franklin along side such allegedly equal and GREAT Americans as Oprah Winfrey and Bob Hope!!
Elvis Presley is in the final 25 and Alexander Hamilton is not. I've read detailed biographies on both of these guys and unless I misunderstood something, I'm pretty sure Alexander Hamilton was a Greater American.
They should have called this "Who's your Favorite American?"
aol.com, The Discovery Channel, and Matt Lauer (the host), are dead to me.

Well fucking said. *golf clap*
I agree. I was watching this show the other day and was appalled to find Michael Jackson and Laura Bush on this list. Give me a break.
Wasn't Einstein a German Refugee?
Einstein was born in Ulm, Germany and lived as a boy in Munich and Milan, continued his studies at the cantonal school at Aarau, Switzerland, and was graduated (1900) from the Federal Institute of Technology, later he became a Swiss citizen. In 1940 he became an American citizen.
Yeah, Einstein was from Vienna. His appearance in this moronic stuff is akin to Kissenger running for president. Although, Einstein did score with Marilyn Monroe, the quintessential American bombshell. Maybe that gets him a bye.
I agree with Steve.I do not believe Tom Cruise,Opra ,Micheal Jackson,or Brett Favre should be on the list.I think it is a discrase to even compare them to some of the great people in our history,to name a few,Ben Franklin,George Washington,Abraham Lincoln, and the Wright brothers.
I refuse to believe that movie stars, rock stars,or talk show host can compare to the greats of our history. It is a down right discrase.
Martin Luther King Jr. all the way baby YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Abraham Lincoln is the greatest american. He kept the United States united. Without him we would have ended like a bunch of "banana republics".
Greatest American?- a man who stands for peace and love-respect and dignity.
BILLY GRAHAM
Rosa Parks definitely had the most signifcant impact with the simplest, yet most profound action!
I vote for Benjamin Franklin.
Franklin Roosevelt's my Hero
