The picture above is of Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai from 1991 and 2005. That's right! In just 14 years they did all that. I don't know about where you live, but in Illinois it can take them 14 years just to repave a residential street.

I heard a rumor a while ago that dubai had over 60% of the worlds construction cranes. I wouldn't be surprised. I go there 5 or 6 times a year, and each time it looks like a whole new city.
Thank god Ramadan is over, Sheikh Zayed Road becomed a death trap as people race home to break their fast.

I lived here for the past thirty years...and yes the place is growing at an amazing place...and yes you are right about the there being no unions.
It is also one of the few places in the world with the lowest crime too.
