Changing weather conditions caused an Idaho Transportation Department snowplow to flip over about 5 p.m. Monday, just north of the intersection of Ohio Gulch and Highway 75. The snowplow was being driven by a 24-year-veteran of the department, said Ron Robinson, a maintenance foreman with ITD in Hailey. Robinson said the driver was plowing the shoulder of Highway 75 when he hit a thawed-out portion of soft gravel and the truck flipped when the blade snagged in the gravel. The driver of the vehicle escaped injury in the accident. “He’s pretty lucky,” Robinson said. The accident—which took a coordinated effort by the Blaine County Sheriff’s Department, emergency personnel and the ITD approximately an hour and 45 minutes to clean up—held up traffic on Highway 75 for several hours and caused extensive damages to the snowplow.
