Three children in North Brach, Minn., ages 6 and 8 years old, are accused of beating a neighbor's puppy to death with a stick and rock for no apparent reason, according to a report.

"The thing is that they ripped a piece of my family away," the dog's owner said. "It's tough. It really is. She was a baby. She was a good girl."

A Minnesota man said he and his family left their miniature pinscher Bella tied up in the back yard of her home while they went to the grocery store.

When Ed Darwin and his family came home they found the dog severely beaten in the yard.

Hours later, two 6-year-old boys and an 8-year-old allegedly confessed to the beating.

"The thing is that they ripped a piece of my family away," Darwin said. "It's tough. It really is. She was a baby. She was a good girl."

Authorities said the children can't be criminally charged because they're under 12 years old.
