I heard this term toss your salad came from the Prison system and salad dressing is used to kill the taste of this practice.

LMFAO!!! So this is another prison tip - "always carry a spare packet of dressing in your pocket". I'm guessing thousand island would be the best choice so you don't notice the dingle berrys as much.
