Comments are now working properly.

BTW, the old host shut us down because the comment script was being hit too hard. Don't you think if you ran a business you would warn people before shutting them down??? The old server is STILL offline!

Comment spammers... They have programs that submit to the script. I have implemented a bunch of filters and blocking techniques but each time they try the system has to run and then block it.

I'm going to have to change the name of the script every week or two to keep it obscured from now on. Hopefully the new host will at least give us a warning...

Did I mention that StartLogic.com SUCKS ASS!???

Being a host my self, I have had to shut down a MT Comment Script with out warning, although I called the Customer RIGHT THEN. As well we got our programmers in there to fix it for them. If you are on your own box, make sure that you have mod_security installed. And then google for a good update plan. If you need more information just hit me up. :)

OH also that was me that got the "Extender" right on the first guess... :) But I was kinda happy that you lost it.. :) Why would I know that????!@

I can definately understand killing a rogue script but to shut off my entire virtual server with no warning is bullshit. I'm still waiting for them to bring it back online so that I can recover a few things that I want.

Like that comment you left! ;-) Did you see that somewhere online or were you purely guessing?

I am not familiar with mod_security, what does it do?

Sorry was away.

I happened across it somewhere and it just stuck with me. Mainly cause I could not quite grasp the use of it. :)

Mod Sec: Any perl script that gets input (comments fourms etc) gets run through a filter. If it matches then it is dumped with an error 400. Although works like a standard comment spam filter, this also goes more into Hackers that try to inject code to get access to the machine. Of course unless you are the only site on the box then you probably can not do that. This is httpd wide. Not Site wide.
