It will, but instead of a lighter-go get a replacement electronic ignition button for a gas grill. The hairspray will get the lighter wet and it wont work. I made a potato gun in college that would shoot a potato a good 150 yards or so based on the same priciple-the cheaper the hairspray the better (I used aquanet too!).
