Here's the new Metallica song, not the live one from the Ozzfest that sounded like crap, this is The Day That Never Comes...
Personally, I'm pleased, not crazy about it, too slow to start up. First notes you think...Shit not another freaking ballad, well almost...luckily the last half of the song rocks. Oh and Lars - downloading should be punishable by death- Ulrich threw away the drums he'd bought at Sears for St.Anger. Keep in mind, the last few albums were produced by Bob Rock, the man who wrote "Eyes of a stranger" ! Bob Rock (Former Payolas) ,is responsible for: The Black Album and followups, Load , ReLoad , Garage Inc. ,S&M. and St. Anger. The New album DEATH MAGNETIC is produced by Rick Rubin a man who worked with SLAYER/DANZIG/AC-DC/TROUBLE.

It should be called "The Song that Never Begins."
I'm all for the slow startup of Metallica songs, that's what makes Fight Fire With Fire and For Who the Bell Tolls such masterpieces. The difference here is that the payoff takes WAY to long and even then it sounds out of place.
Maybe after I hear it a few dozens times or play it on Rock Band/Guitar Hero I'll start to appreciate it.
This song's not too bad. Check out Metallica.com today. They put another full song on there. It's titled "My Apocalypse" and it fuckin' slams! Starts off fast and hits like a freight train. That's where the "Death Magnetic" name comes from too (it's in one of the verses). Sounds a lot like old school Metallica (Hit the Lights/Ride the Lightning/Master of Puppets). Personally, I can't wait for this album to come out!
