2 Shuttles on the launch pad

Two shuttles on the launch pad at the same time. Because Atlantis (near) cannot reach the safety of the space station if something goes wrong on its upcoming servicing mission to the Hubble telescope, Endeavour (far) must be on standby for a rescue mission.

Totally awesome! I wish I could see the launch...

yeah i have been down there and saw a night launch from the hotel hot tub. awesome. I wanted to go to Cape Canaveral to watch but they keep you so far away I don't know that its worth it.

I did see a launch from about 10 miles away. Can't see much more than a bright spot and pillar of smoke but you can hear it and feel it.

I had tickets for a launch a few years ago and it got scrubbed the night before. Still went to the Space Center and drove out on the bus to see the shuttle on the pad. Cool to see but it really sucks when you were there to see the damn thing fly!

BTW, have you ever watched the launches on NASA TV? VERY COOL! I'll have to set it to record.

NASA TV is often on. DirectTV shows the launches in HD
