A Chicago woman who became enraged after discovering her longtime boyfriend's stash of pornography shot and killed him in their South Side home over the weekend, prosecutors said.

Jeanette Strowder, 58, is facing a first-degree murder charge in the Sunday shooting of Jesse Martin, 54, her boyfriend of about 15 years, police said.

Strowder and Martin had lived together in the 5300 block of South Shields Avenue for the last two years, prosecutors said at a hearing Tuesday at which Strowder was ordered held in lieu of $600,000 bail. On Sunday night, Strowder found CDs inside the home containing images of nude women and lost control, authorities said.

Prosecutors said Strowder gave a videotaped confession. She has no criminal history. Criminal Court Judge Raymond Myles set an Oct. 22 court date, said Andy Conklin, spokesman for the Cook County state's attorney's office.

33 year old Austrian Markus Stoeckl has smashed the World Speed Record for series mountain bikes. Stoeckl, nicknamed "Hercules" because of his 6'4", 220 lbs. frame, broke the 8 year old record by 14 mph on a 2000 meter, 45 degree run in the Chilean Alps. Because of the extreme cold, Hercules had to hold his breath for the 40 second duration so his helmet didn't fog up.

Spanish matador Fernando Cruz is in hospital after a bull gored in the groin, tossing him into the air and then gored him in the scrotum on the way down. The incident happened at the Valencia bullring.

"Fernando Cruz is suffering from two horn wounds of 25 centimeters in length each. One involves the fibers of the abductor muscle and dissects the femoral artery, the other involves the scrotal area and eviscerates both testicles," surgeons said.

Cruz was sitting up the day after the accident and the ensuing two hour operation. In spite of his injuries he plans to be back in the ring in about 3 weeks.
