Drum Machine is a Windows app that allows you to play your Rock Band drums as if they are a real electronic drumset. Drum Machine uses input from the drumset to play "samples" that you assign to each pad. It comes with a few drum samples already, but you can add as many as you want (up to 1024), since they are simply WAV files. Drum Machine also allows you to record yourself, save it to file, and play it back or send it to a friend.

You can also play music in the background and play along. It works surprisingly well.

The Beta of Google Chrome is supposed to be available later this morning. I can't wait to see what they've come up with! For more information read the link below.

Go and buy Newsleecher! It is by far the best usenet reader ever written. You can search all the newsgroups easily from within Newsleecher using the Super Search feature. As if that wasn't reason enough to buy it, it also manages all of the PAR2 fixes, RAR decompression and clean-up of the PAR and RAR files! All you are left with are the completed files.

If you need a decent news server you should check out Usenetserver.com. They offer unlimited downloads for about $13 a month. I've been using them for the past few years and overall I'm very happy.

I've been looking for a app that would take JPG files and move them to a dated folder structure for a long time. Adobe Lightshow can do it but it's expensive and slow. While searching around I came upon this little app. At first I was skeptical but damn was I wrong! It's simple, flexible and FAST! (if you are moving the files and not copying them at least)

It reads the EXIF data from the picture itself and places it into a folder structure that you can specify. It can also rename the files using the same configuration variables. I personally use YEAR -> MONTH for my folders and YEAR_MONTH_DAY for the filenames.

The only limitation is the number of files that you can drag in at one time. I have 150GB of photos and video clips that I've taken. If you try to drag in more than 3000 pictures at a time it tends to hang. So just do it in batches. It took me 1.5 hours to organize all of my pictures! AMAZING!

There's a new program on the loose that removes the digital rights management (DRM) from Windows Media files. Called FairUse4WM, the Windows program strips the DRM'd from the targeted Windows Media file.
