NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. average gasoline prices should hit an all-time peak on Tuesday and may break $4 a gallon in some areas this summer, battering consumers already reeling from high energy costs, according to travel and auto group AAA.
Monday's surge in crude to near $108 a barrel should be enough to lift gasoline prices averaging $3.222 a gallon now above the current record $3.227, said Geoff Sundstrom, AAA fuel price analyst.
"I would anticipate we'd hit a new record price tomorrow," said Sundstrom. "It's primarily due to the crude price."

WAUKEGAN, Ill. (Lake County News-Sun) ― A 43-year-old Antioch Township woman is being held in the Lake County Jail on a $1 million bond after being charged with murdering her ex-boyfriend by driving over him and dragging his body a quarter of a mile.
Lori A. Michelson, of the 40000 block of Fairview Ave., sobbed and cried in bond court Friday morning as prosecutors read the charges and described what allegedly happened.
Brian Boatright, 29, of the 400 block of Meadowgreen Lane in Round Lake Beach, died Tuesday.
Michelson is charged with first-degree murder and aggravated driving under the influence. If convicted of murder she faces a prison sentence of 20 to 60 years.
Prosecutor Patricia Fix said the two had been dating for nine months, Fix said.
That evening, the couple were in Michelson's car, a white Volvo station wagon, in the parking lot of the Big Lots store in Round Lake Beach, drinking and arguing, Fix said. Boatright got out and stood in front of the car.
Michelson "drove over" him, Fix said, and kept on driving a quarter-mile to the Meadowgreen Apartments parking lot, with his body stuck under the car.
Witnesses in the Big Lots parking lot shouted at Michelson as she drove by, Fix said, "Hey lady, there is someone under your car. Stop," and Michelson retorted: "shut up."
A coroner determined Boatright's legs were broken "at the height of the car bumper," Fix said. His body was torn apart and he suffered a shattered pelvis and many broken ribs, dying of blunt-force trauma. His right shoulder had tire tracks and his entire body had "road rash," Fix said.

Porsche Driver Jailed for 172 Mph
LONDON - A rental car worker who was clocked at 172 mph in his company's Porsche was ordered jailed Monday for 10 weeks.
Tim Brady, 33, who was caught Jan. 27, became the fastest speeder ever convicted in Britain. He beat the previous record , 156 mph , set by car dealer Jason McAllister in 2003.
Brady was caught driving the $198,000 Porsche 911 Turbo, which he took from his employer, luxury car rental firm HelpHire PLC, authorities said.
Brady had nagged his boss to take the Porsche out the day before, but was repeatedly told no, authorities said.
Brady, who admitted to dangerous driving, was banned from driving for three years and will have to take a new driving test before taking to the road again.
He quit his job a day after he was caught.
